You can install Dragon Medical one of two ways. The first is through physical media, such as CDs or USBs. The other is through digital media. While it is recommended that you install your software using the CD provided with the software, this guide will instruct you on how to install the software using both methods.

Physical Media (CD, USB, etc.)

Installing your software using physical media is the easiest of the two methods, but often takes a bit longer to have the software up and running as you will need to wait a day or two for the CD to arrive in the mail. Please note that if you choose to install the software via CD, your computer will need an internal disk drive, or you will need to purchase an external disk drive in order to read the CD. If time is of the essence, try installing the software digitally (Digital installation instructions are found below)

1. Insert your Dragon Medical CD or USB into the computer.

2. If you are installing via the installation CD, simply click run or setup to begin the installation wizard when asked. If you are installing via a USB, you will need to browse to the USB location using the File Explorer application in Windows, and double click setup.exe (There will be three "setups" in the folder, simply choose the one that has "application" next to it).

3. Once the installation wizard opens, click "Next" on the lower section of the screen. When the license agreement loads, read it over and then click the "I accept the license agreement" button to proceed with the installation, and then click "Next" once more.

4. Next, type in your personal information that you would like to register with your software, as well as the serial number found on the sleeve of your installation CD and then click "Next".

5. Now, choose your install directory and then choose "Typical/Complete" for your installation type and then click "Next" once more.

6. Finally, click "Install" on the lower portion of the screen to begin the installation. This will take some time to complete, so please be patient!

7. When the installation has completed successfully, make sure the "Check for updates when setup is finished" option is selected and then click "finish".

8. Dragon will now open both the update window as well as the registration window. You will need to register your product before you use it, or simply select "Register in 7 days" instead.

9. Finally, make sure dragon is up-to-date, and start dragon by double-clicking on the Dragon Medical icon on your desktop.

10. When dragon starts for the first time, it will ask you to activate your license. Simply click "Activate Now" to activate your license. For more information on Dragon Licensing, please see the "Dragon Licensing" FAQ page here.

11. Dragon will now ask you to set up a profile within the software itself. Before you proceed, please make sure that you have your Mic plugged into your computer!

12. On the new profile window, click "Next" and then give the profile a name, before clicking "Next" once again.

13. Choose an age group that fits the user who will be using the profile, and then click "Next".

14. Choose the region and vocabulary that the user would be using and then click "Next".

15. Choose the accent that the user has, and then click "Next" once more.

16. Finally, choose the dictation source that your user will be using. The term "Dictation Source" is synonymous with the term "Microphone". If you do not see your microphone on the list of available dictation sources, please ensure that it is plugged into the computer. If it is in fact plugged in to the computer and it is still not showing up in the list, simply restart your computer and try again from step 9.

17. Review your choices, and then click "Create" to finish the profile creation process.

18. Once the profile is created, the microphone calibration window will appear.

19. On the microphone calibration window, click next.

20. When you are ready, simply click "Start Volume Check" and then begin to read aloud the text that begins with "While you are reading this..." and keep reading the text until you hear a beep. You may need to repeat the text a few times before hearing the beep. Click "Next".

21. Just like the previous step, click "Start Quality Check" and then read the paragraph that begins with "For Dragon to recognize your voice accurately..." until the software gives you the same beep as before. Again, you may need to repeat this text a few times before hearing the beep. Click "Next".

22. Wait for the calibration to complete, which may take a few minutes.

23. That's it! Your software is now installed and ready to use!
